Golf Cart Connection has learned a thing or two about used golf carts that we would like to share with you, our customer. After all, we’ve been selling used (and new) golf carts for over 25 years.
How much should a good, used, 4-year old basic golf cart cost? Currently a good used golf cart starts at $2,599. If you are quoted less than that, send up the red flag – it could mean buy now, pay later.
What should you look for when buying a used golf cart?
New Batteries. Golf carts should have 6 batteries. It is not recommended to buy a golf cart with only fout batteries. If you buy a golf cart with only four (4) batteries: The batteries are very expensive to replace and will not last long. This could be maintenace problem for as long as you own a 4-battery golf cart.
A set of new U.S made commercial/industrial grade batteries costs about $865 installed. Buying a used golf cart with used batteries is like playing Russian Roulette of when the used batteries will die.
Original Serial Number. The serial number tells you how old the golf cart is. In our experience, a golf cart that does not have an original serial number may have been:
In an accident that bent the chassis (frame)
Stolen
Found at the bottom of a canal
Whom should you buy your used golf cart from? To protect yourself, you should only buy a used golf cart from an authorized golf cart dealer. Golf Cart factories demand high standards from their dealers. The entire staff of a Yamaha golf cart dealer like Golf Cart Connection is required to attend factory schools for continuing education to benefit you.
◊ Buy from a long established company. Warranties are only as good as the golf cart dealer
behind them.
◊ Visit the facility, if you can. Determine if the company that rents garage bays is as
dependable as a company in its own building with a storage yard full of golf carts in the
long term?
We suggest buying used golf carts that came from a quality country club. These carts are well maintained by authorized factory technicians, at the country club. Used carts purchased from a private business or individual may not provide a record for the background of the cart.
